File > Load Bookmark

A Bookmark (.BMK) File is used just like a bookmark: to bring you back to a specific point in the simulation. A number of possible uses for this include:

  1. performing multiple simulations from the same starting point (e.g. with and without control lines, with and without fuel modifications, different weather scenarios etc.).

  2. reducing time required for repeated simulations and

  3. for demonstrations, for saving and reviewing a past simulation with the 2D, 3D, and output features of FARSITE.

All Bookmark (.BMK) File manipulation is done with the "Select Bookmark File" dialog box, which is started with the Input > Bookmark or File > Load Bookmark commands or the toolbar button.

Saving a Bookmark

A Bookmark (.BMK) File can be made any time after a project file is loaded. In the "Select Bookmark File" dialog box click the Save Bookmark (.BMK) button. Use the "Save Bookmark File" dialog box to navigate to the folder where you want to save the Bookmark (.BMK) File, type the file name in the File Name: text box and click the Save button. If you are modifying an existing Bookmark (.BMK) File, simply select the existing Bookmark (.BMK) File name to overwrite it's current contents.

In the "Select Bookmark File" dialog box, you can now enter a more complete description of the Bookmark (.BMK) File than the file name allows. Click the OK button to finish saving the bookmark. A dialog box pops up telling you the bookmark requires the Project (.PRJ) File to be resaved, click Yes.

What happens if you click No?

Loading a Bookmark File

A bookmark file is loaded using the Load Bookmark (.BMK) button. The "Load Bookmark File" dialog box lets you navigate and select the Bookmark (.BMK) File you want to load, then click Open.

The selected Bookmark (.BMK) File file now appears in the "Select Bookmark File" dialog box, along with a Bookmark Description and the version of FARSITE that created the Bookmark (.BMK) File. Click the OK button to load the bookmark.

Remember; a Bookmark (.BMK) File cannot be loaded when another project or bookmark file is loaded. If a project is currently loaded the Load Bookmark (.BMK) button in the "Bookmarks" dialog box will be grayed out.

Deleting a Bookmark File

Deleting a Bookmark (.BMK) File is very similar to loading or saving. Click the Delete Bookmark (.BMK) button, to open the "Delete Bookmark File" dialog box. Select the file to delete and click the Open button. The selected Bookmark (.BMK) File now appears in the "Select Bookmark File" dialog box where you can review the Bookmark Description, before deleting. To delete, click OK, or to abort the delete operation click Cancel.
