File > Load Project

A project file contains most of the inputs and customizations that you've made for a simulation. A project file is used to speed up the process of loading files and setting the customizations for subsequent simulations.

Loading a Project

Clicking the button or the File > Load Project command brings up the "Select Project File" dialog box

Navigate to the correct .FPJ file, make sure the file name is displayed in the File Name: box and click Open.

Once a project is loaded, you can substitute or edit individual files using the Input > Project Inputs command to open the "FARSITE Project" dialog box. These changes can be temporary (only for the current simulation) or permanent by saving the edited files or project. However if the Project (.FPJ) File is saved with unsaved edited component files, those files will then be automatically saved also.

Editing ASCII Text Files

A generic text editing application such as Notepad or WordPad, a spreadsheet, or the FARSITE Editor can be used to create or edit ASCII text files. FARSITE also has Custom Editors for each ASCII text file type found in the "FARSITE Project" dialog box.

File Custom Editors

Custom file editors are accessed through the "FARSITE Project" dialog box. Although they are all similar, the wind, weather, and coarse woody profile  custom editors are more complex. The button to the right of the file text box brings up the custom editor for generating or editing a file.

Custom file editors for the following ASCII text files are available in the "FARSITE Project" dialog box;
