Output > Landscape Display

The Landscape Display dialog box controls options for displaying the "Landscape" window.

Grid Lines

Grid lines can be toggled on/off with using the Show Grid Lines check box. If you choose to have grid lines displayed, you can select the spacing (resolution) and color of these lines. The grid lines slider selects the resolution of the grid lines in either meters or feet depending on the distance units of your Landscape (.LCP) File. There are four radio buttons to control the color of the grid lines.

HINT: There are 1609 meters per mile.

Topographic Shading

Topographic Shading can be toggled on/off with using the Topographic Shading check box. This option shades the visible theme color by topographic aspect. The light source direction can be selected from the eight cardinal compass directions.

You may want to disable the topographic shading with very diverse visible themes as the dithered topographic shading tends to confuse the spatial definition of the theme. The shading may also confuse visible themes that have the similar colors.

HINT: If topographic shading is displayed, avoid defining fuel colors that are "dark"; the shading method uses the defined visible color for the "light facing slopes" and darkens that color for slopes of other aspects.

Visible Theme

The landscape theme visible in the landscape window can be selected by two ways.

  1. Check the appropriate radio button in the "Landscape Display" dialog box shown above,

  2. by using the "FARSITE Simulation Legend" dialog box.
