Input > Landscape Utilities > Extract Portion of .LCP File

This utility is used to extract a rectangular portion from an existing Landscape (.LCP) file into a new .LCP file. Although not necessary, it is very helpful to have a view open of the source .LCP file while extracting. A view of the Landscape file can be opened by the File > Load Project, View > View Landscape (.LCP) File > 2D Window commands, or loading a Bookmark.

To use this Utility:

From the main menu select the Input > Landscape Utilities > Extract Portion of LCP File command. This brings up the "Extract Subset of .LCP File" dialog box.

Brief instructions are displayed in the message window at the bottom of the dialog box.

There are two ways to select the new region to extract from an existing .LCP file.

  1. You can use an existing 2-D zoom window to define the extraction region if the Source File (.LCP) is the same as the currently displayed Landscape (.LCP) File. This is achieved by pressing the Zoom Window button.

  2. If you are extracting from a different Landscape (.LCP) File, haven't opened a zoom window, or want to make adjustments to the zoom boundaries, you can also adjust the north, south, east, and west boundaries of the extraction region using the slider bars.

Either way the extraction region for the new file is defined by the red area, the blue region is excluded from the new Landscape (.LCP) File. Red is in, blue is out!

Select an output file for your extracted region by clicking the Select File checkbox under Destination File (.LCP) in the right side of the dialog box.

Click the Extract button to begin the merging process. When the Progress box indicates the process is finished the dialog box automatically closes.
